Obituary of Harry Campbell Rush
Harry Campbell Rush, passed away Monday, March 25, 2019. Harry was a WWII veteran who participated in the invasion of Okinawa and also served in the Philippines. Harry was born on January 18, 1924, in Danville, Va. He leaves his daughters, Wanda R. Hays (Bill) and Jackie R. Horst (Duane); grandchildren, Chrissie Korolsky (Justin), Kathy Devary (Chris), Jason Horst, Adam Horst (Pamela) and Katie Hays (Theo Sanitate); and great-grandchildren, Thomas Devary, Michael Korolsky, William Sanitate, David Devary, Elizabeth Korolsky, Oakley Horst and Ella Horst. He is survived by his sisters, Eva Figuly and Mary Gayton. Harry worked at the A&P Bakery for many years and eventually retired from the Nabisco Bakery. When he came home after work, he smelled like a sugar wafer. During his career, he proudly served as a shop steward for the Bakers and Confectioners Union. Harry always made time for his grandchildren. He wouldn't miss his granddaughters' dance recitals and was a major figure in his grandsons' athletics. During the last years of his life, he spread the Gospel to everyone he met through hundreds of cards that he made with scripture and words that came from his heart. The service will be held on Thursday, March 28, at 10 a.m. at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231. A reception to follow.
