She grew up in the Short Pump area. Helen retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield and was a longtime member of Four Mile Creek Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 29 years, Benny D. Saunders; her beautiful child, Ralph Patterson (Jan); stepsons, Benny Saunders Jr. (Cathy), Kenneth Saunders (Christie), David Saunders – deceased (Lindsay); and grandchildren, Michael, Stephanie, William, Travis, Matthew, Russell, Jackson.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 18, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Four Mile Creek Baptist Church, 2950 New Market Rd., Richmond, Va. 23231 with interment to follow in Laurel Hill United Methodist Church cemetery.
