

Houston "Tex" Pollard, age 79, of Quinton, Virginia, passed away on Monday October 21, 2019. Tex was born January 31, 1940 in Tuskegee, Alabama. Tex was the son of Will and Josephine Pollard. His mother is Anne Ruth O'neil and his brothers were Eddie O'neil and Lawrence Edward.
Between 1956 and 1957, Tex was assigned to C Company 62nd Engineer Battalion at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. He moved from Tuskegee, Alabama, to White Plains, New York, where he served as Master Shop Steward, Business Agent and Vice President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local #456. He was an avid golfer; a recreational pilot; and air-delivered mail part time for the U.S. Postal Service from New York to Connecticut. He attended Cornell University where he received a certificate for Industrial and Labor Relations.
Tex married the love of his life Maria Huskerson on January 12, 1981, in Richmond, Virginia. He is survived by his daughters Robin Pollard, Lisa Wabinga and Lena West. His legacy begins with his grandsons Curtis Norman, Robert Sweat Jr., Cory Wabinga and his great grandchildren, Christian Pollard, Arianna, Olivia and Stella Rose Sweat.
A public visitation for Tex will be held Sunday, October 27, 2019, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA 23231. Immediately after, a celebration of life will occur Sunday, October 27, 2019 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:15 p.m., 4650 South Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA 23231.
