Irene Adams Slaughter

Irene Adams, 84, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord on October 13, 2015. Mrs. Slaughter was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas and Alice Adams; her sisters, Mary Currey and Bertha Moore; her brothers, Robert, Clarence, Daniel, Levis, Arthur and Luther Adams. She is survived by her devoted husband of 36 years, Earl Hugh Slaughter; her stepdaughter, Doris Slaughter Hodges (David); and her stepson, Steven Earl Slaughter (Anita); grandchildren, Jennifer Bromage and Robert Slaughter of Warwick R.I., Joshua Hodges and Ryan Hodges of Richmond; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews that mourn her passing. Mrs. Slaughter was a longtime member of Carlisle Avenue Baptist Church and a member of Eastern Star. Mrs. Slaughter worked for many years at AH Robins Pharmaceutical. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 20, at 11 a.m., at Nelsen Funeral Home, Laburnum, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will take place at Bethany Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
