Obituary of Jacqueline Maria Green-Mitchell
Jacqueline Maria Green-Mitchell, 58, of New Kent, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 28, 2020. Jacqueline was born September 12, 1961 in Heilbronn, Germany to MSG (RET) Bruce A. Green, Sr. and Maria T. Green. She was preceded in death by her mother; and sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Gardner, Rose-Marie Green. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Archie Elmore Mitchell; children, Jonathan A. Taylor, Kevin A. Mitchell, Amber M. Mitchell; adopted daughter, Krystal Johnson; grandchildren, Devron Taylor, Camron Taylor, Jonniyah Taylor, Ezra Mitchell, Naomi Mitchell; brothers, Edward L. Green, Bruce A. Green, Jr.; best friends, Crystal Dabney, Donna Fleming, Gladys Brown, Diane Leonard, Brenda Neely; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. As a child, Jacqueline attended Karlsruhe Army Elementary School in Karlsruhe, Germany. She returned to the States in 1976 where she attended Douglas S. Freeman High School. Jacqueline traveled numerous places including: Fort Hood, Texas; Fort Gordon, Georgia; Cleveland, Ohio; and Baumholder, Germany. For years, Momma J worked hard to provide for her family. She worked 13 years for the New Kent Rest Stop where she loved to plant her garden for visitors to see. Momma J lived a wonderful life, making friends with everyone she met. She will be remembered by her loving arms and her very bright green thumb. Momma J could light up a room with her smile or her jokes. Many know that no matter what she had, if they needed anything, she would give it to you before you asked. A person or animal would never hurt around her because she was quick to aid. Momma J will truly be missed and never forgotten. We love you Momma J! The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 9, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231, where a funeral service will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
