July 29, 1942 – July 10, 2026
Jerry Liebert, 83, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, July 10, 2026. While his family grieves his passing, they rejoice in the assurance that he is healed, whole, and worshiping the Savior he faithfully served throughout his life.
After four years of service in the U.S. Air Force, Jerry answered God’s call to ministry and devoted 48 years to shepherding God’s people. Jerry attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, and later earned his bachelor’s degree from Atlantic Baptist Bible College in Richmond, Virginia. From 1969 until his retirement in 2017, he served as pastor of Jackson Baptist Temple in Jackson, Mississippi; Grace Baptist Church in Canyon, Texas; and Varina Baptist Church in Henrico, Virginia. His greatest passion was sharing the message of salvation through Jesus Christ and pointing others to the hope found in Him.
In 1964, Jerry married the love of his life, Ann Elizabeth Williams, and together they built a Christ-centered home and family while serving the churches God called them to throughout his ministry. Their marriage was a testimony of faithful love, partnership, and unwavering commitment to the Lord.
Those who knew Pastor Jerry remember him as a loving husband and Dad, a proud Papa, and a man of deep conviction, integrity, and genuine compassion. He loved God’s Word, cared deeply for people, and lived the Gospel he preached. His quiet strength, humble spirit, and steadfast faith were an example to his family, his churches, and everyone whose lives he touched.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Ann Liebert; his son, Bryan Liebert; his daughter, Tammy Scott; his grandchildren, Lindsey Natoli, Samuel Scott, Jonathan Scott, Brittany Drake, Kaitlyn Liebert, and Hunter Liebert; his great-grandchildren, Sophia Natoli and Jackson Natoli; and many extended family members, dear friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ whose lives were enriched by his faithful ministry.
The family finds great comfort in the promise that Pastor Jerry has heard the words of his Savior: “Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Savior.”
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, Virginia.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Swift Creek Baptist Church in Midlothian, Virginia, with Pastor Monty Guice officiating.
Though he will be deeply missed, Jerry’s family rejoices in the blessed hope of the resurrection and looks forward to the day they will be reunited with him in the presence of the Lord he loved and served so faithfully.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Swift Creek Baptist Missions Fund.
