Obituary of Jerry Wayne Nolte, Sr.
NOLTE, Jerry Wayne, Sr., age 80 of Varina passed away on December 31, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie J. and Audrey L. Nolte; birth mother, Abbie Harper Ellett; son, Christopher Scott; and a brother, Leslie J. Jr. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia B. Nolte; children, Jerry W. “Jay” Nolte, Jr. (Beth), Michael D. Nolte, Robin N. Tuck (Alan), Regina M. Nolte, and Christopher W. Nolte; Grandchildren, Christopher, Mike, Jerry III (Jayson), Nicholas, Joshua, Matthew, Brittany, Jonathan, and Gage; step-granddaughter, Megan; 11 great grandchildren. Jerry was a 1957 graduate of St. Patrick’s High School in Richmond. After graduation Jerry served 2 years in the US Navy aboard the USS Forrestal. After a short enlistment in the Navy Reserves, he joined the Va. Air National Guard and served for 20 years until his retirement in 1992. In 1967 he joined the Richmond Fire Dept. and retired in 1997 after 30 years of service. Jerry was a lifelong devoted Catholic and devoted member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Highland Springs. He was a charter member and Past Grand Knight of Fr James J. Scanlon Council 6936 Knights of Columbus, a former District Deputy, and the 1983 Va. State Council Family of the Year. He was also a member and Former Faithful Comptroller of the 4th Degree Richmond Assembly 1165. The family will receive friends on Sunday January 6th, 2019 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home at 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. Richmond, Va. 23231. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, January 7th, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church at 813 W. Nine Mile Rd. Highland Springs, Va. 23075. An interment will follow at Washington Memorial Park at 6217 Memorial Dr. Sandston, Va. 23150.
