John A. Miller, Sr., 80, of New Kent, departed his life on September 30, 2013. He was preceded in death by his son, John Jr.; and sister, Lilly Mae Thompson. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Miller; five daughters, Althea, Barbara Ann, Lavern, Helen Pryor, Sarah Otey; son-in-law Clyde; one devoted grandson, Tony Miller (Sandra); brother, Floyd E. Miller, Sr. (Edna); brother- in-law, Pleasant Thompson, Sr.; two devoted friends, Phil (Bo) Christian and Herbert Minor; and a host of grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and friends. A funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Nelsen Funeral Home at 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA 23231.
