John Russell Pomeroy, Jr.

POMEROY, John Russell, Jr., 82, passed away on May 31, 2019. John was born in Washington D.C. on December 23, 1936 to the late John Russell Pomeroy, Sr. and Mary Kathleen Boxley. He was a proud life member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans Norfolk County Grays Camp 1549. John went home to be with his beloved wife Eileen Louise Burkett of 60 years. John is survived by his sons, Michael “Randy” Pomeroy (Sandy) of Chesapeake, VA, Christopher “Chris” Dwayne Pomeroy (Mary Ellen) of Winston-Salem, NC; daughters, Mary-Louise Preston (Charles) of Flint Hill, VA, and Angela Pomeroy of Alexandria, VA; one granddaughter, Kayla Lombardi (Matt) of Alexandria, VA; and one great granddaughter, Nixon Shae. He was predeceased by his sister, Virginia May Kelly. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va 23231. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 5, at 3 p.m. at Washington Memorial Park, Sandston, Va.
