Lt. Col. John R. Roadcap

Lt. Col. John R. Roadcap, 68, of Albuquerque, N.M., formerly of Richmond, Va., passed away on September 23, 2022 surrounded by family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Robert R. and Elizabeth S. Roadcap. He is survived by his brother, Dr. Richard F. Roadcap (Norma) of Colonial Heights, Va.; his sister, Beth Tracy (Jon) of Bella Vista, Ark.; his nephew, Bart Tracy (Amanda); and two great-nephews, John Parker and McCray Tracy, all of Springdale, Ark.
John was a graduate of Florida State University and earned a Master’s degree and Ph.D. from Saint Louis University. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 2004 after 28 years of service as a meteorologist. He was employed at the Air Force Research Laboratory at Kirtland AFB at the time of his death. During his career as a meteorologist, John received many awards and commendations for his forecasting and research.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231. A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 7 in Laurel Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1919 New Market Rd., Richmond, Va. 23231.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Earth and Atmospheric Sciences Development Fund, Saint Louis University (slu.edu).
