Joyce Davis

Joyce Davis, age 85 passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 31, 2016. Joyce was a devoted wife and loving caring mother and Big Mama. Joyce was born in Lynchburg, Virginia on January 9, 1931 and was a longtime resident of Richmond and for the past 20 years she lived in Newport News. Joyce enjoyed daily reading of her Bible, crocheting, gardening, working puzzles and most of all being with her family. She preserved these special times in a collection of family albums which will be cherished for generations to come. She is preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Hugh B. Davis and grandson Michael Mlynczak. Joyce is survived by her three daughters Brenda Ritger and husband Walter, Pat Stewart and husband Wayne and Beverley Mueller and husband Andy. She was Big Mama to her grandchildren, Kelly Hott and husband Danny, Tyler and Brandon Mueller and her four great grandchildren, Daniel Hott and wife Megan, Mcrae, Jacob and Kristlin Hott and three great great grandchildren Briley, Oliver and Tripp Hott. The family would like to thank Sue and Brenda for being such good neighbors and always sending their expressions of friendship and support. The family will receive friends, Thursday, November 3, 2016 from 2-4pm at Nelsen Funeral Home Laburnum. A graveside service will be held Friday, November 4, 2016 at 2pm at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to: Heartland Hospice, National Stem Cell Foundation, or the Parkinson ’s Disease Foundation.
