I've known Wayne since Baker Elementary school days. He was my skating buddy every Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday nights at old Skateland through our teen years. After marrying, my husband and I have lived in Hanover/Mechanicsville area and I didn't get to the East End very often. I did have occasion to run into Wayne a few times over the years and always was greeted with a big hug and a "Hey Baby"! My deepest condolences to his loved ones and close friends. Wayne was one of the good guys.

Bubba Hilliard was truly a kind and good man that was always willing to help others. I was introduced to him by a mutual friend when I had a major plumbing emergency and he came to the rescue right away. He helped me with other plumbing issues after that, always with a big smile and a friendly word. I know how his family must hurt now, but I hope that it will bring comfort knowing that Bubba was loved by so many people. It is often said that God always takes the best; this would certainly be true in this case when he took Bubba back home. God bless his soul.

I met Bubba in the waffle house when I was 20. In the last 30 years he not only was a friend but my adopted uncle. He is the only person I know that I cant tell him to do something because he will do it. He was a wonderful karaoke singer. The first time he sung Your man(my fave song) I only hear him singing it not the country artist. He has been my plumber for years tree cutter. I am coming to terms with your passing but it hurts knowing I will never see you or talk to you. I love you uncle Bubba and I know there is a party in heaven.

RIP Bubba! Our thoughts & prayers go out to his family and friends. We were Moose family and always enjoyed being in Bubba's company. He always had a smile & a way of making everyone laugh. He pitched in to help in any way needed with sincere appreciation for everyone. Heaven has truly gained a wonderful angel and he will be greatly missed here on earth! So sorry we can't make it to show our respects.

Bubba, was always a friend to me. He loved to tell the tale of me tying myself to his boat. I will miss you. The Moose won't be the same without you. RIP

To all the family and friends of Kenneth Wayne "Bubba" Hilliard....boy, did he hate it when I called him that! We met when he feel in love with my friend Susan back in 1971 and were friends ever since. If you knew Bubba 50 years ago, you knew him today. He was always the same, life of the party, give you the shirt off his back, helpful Bubba. He epitomized God's commandment to "Love One Another". He wasn't a saint by any means but was an example we could follow and the world would be a better place. I don't know anyone that would have an unkind word about Mr. Hilliard. Remember the Willie Nelson/Julio Iglesias Song, "To All the Girls I've Loved Before", add a pink shirt and that's him. I adore this picture...so perfectly Bubba...wide open to what's next! He will be sorely missed. It hurts my heart to think I can't pick up a phone and hear his cheerful voice anymore. I am grateful to have know him and honored to call him friend. Sadly, I won't be able to travel from NC to his funeral but we will meet again....thank you Jesus! May God bless all who loved and will miss him here on Earth for surely we will grieve. I know he's in heaven razzle and dazzling with those sparkling eyes right now! Love you always HWBH! Lina Maureen Pemberton Fuller, Willow Spring, NC formerly Hanover VA

Bubba was truly an honest and good man. I've known him most of my life, though not much contact in the later years. He was always there for others, with a smile and kind word and always was willing to stand up for others. He left fond memories for many.
