Karen Lorraine Roach

Karen retired from Nabisco, but her life's greatest work was her dedication to her church and her family. A faithful member of Oakwood Memorial Baptist Church, she taught Sunday school, led sign language classes, served as a deacon, and devoted herself to the church family. She proudly continued the deaf ministry founded by June Griffith, touching countless lives through her compassion and service. Karen was also known for her signature sourdough bread rolls, which she lovingly shared as a blessing to friends, family, and church members alike.

Above all, Karen was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her brother, Michael Eggleston (Chris); her sister, Connie Wevodau; her children, David (Marie), Sheila, Brian (Kris), Dale (Pam), and Tonya (Ron); 11 grandchildren: Ryan (Elizabeth), Brandi (Nathan), Allen, Rebecca (Eric), Logan (Pareesa), Nicholas, Andrew, Hunter (Rebecca), James, Ronald (Delaney), and Samantha (Cameron); and eight cherished great-grandchildren.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Stuart and Joyce Eggleston; her sister, Barbara Wilbert; and her beloved son, Steve Roach. She has now joined them in a joyful heavenly reunion.

Karen's legacy of unwavering faith, servant's heart, and unconditional love will continue to live on in the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and church community.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Bon Secours Memorial Regional Hospital, the staff at DaVita Mechanicsville Dialysis, and the caregivers at The Haven Assisted Living in Mechanicsville for the compassionate and loving care they provided for Gram.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA 23231, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park.
