MURPHY, Kenneth R., 80, of Sandston, departed this life on Sunday, January 4, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Anita Martin Murphy; and children, Kenneth R. Murphy Jr. (Lisa), Donald R. Murphy, Timothy R. (Kari) and M. Craig Smith; grandchildren, Candace (Brandon) Hollender, Jason (Christy), Michelle and Cameron Murphy, Kaci, Tim "TJ," Brandon and Carmen Smith; great-grandchildren, Farah, Gareth and Ryker Hollender and Kinley Murphy. Ken worked for Concrete Structures, Inc./Concrete Erectors, Inc. for 20 years. He then started his own companies beginning from 1978 to 2010 (KRM Construction Co., Tech-Crete, Inc. and Prestress Concrete Specialist). He was an avid bowler, golfer and loved to play softball. He coached little league for seven years and was a member of New Bridge Baptist Church. Visitation with family and friends will be held January 8, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. A private memorial service will be held on January 9, 2015, at 2 p.m. in the Sanctuary in Washington Memorial Cemetery.
