Originally from Dix Hills, New York, Kim came to Virginia to study at the University of Richmond. After graduation, she worked as a teacher's aide in the special education department for Henrico County Public Schools. She attended St. John's Catholic Church in Highland Springs.
Kim's greatest joy was her family. Her life was centered around taking care of Toby, Matthew and Bryan. Kim's first grandchild, Savannah, became her greatest gift and made her family complete. Kim fought a long 15 year battle against scleroderma. There is no known cure, but over time one's body wears out and organs lose their ability to function.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Audrey L. Chattin; father, Alvin O. Chattin; grandmother, Audrey E. Durkin; and father-in-law, Anthony J. Soukup, Jr.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Anthony J. Soukup III "Toby"; children, Matthew W. Soukup and Bryan M. Soukup (Camille Miles Soukup); granddaughter, Savannah Grace Soukup; siblings, Bruce T. Chattin (Diane M. Chattin), Jeffrey A. Chattin (Nancy L. Chattin) and Lisa M. Meek; sister-in-law, Teri (Mike Kidd); and mother-in-law, Barbara G. Soukup.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond VA 23231. A mass will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, 813 W. Nine Mile Rd, Highland Springs, VA 23075. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
