Lella Cosentino

Lella Cosentino died peacefully in her home with her family March 19, 2021. She is survived by her five children; Steven (Martha), Peter (Elise), John (Jeanna), Dana (Robert) and Melissa (Joshua);  her granddaughter; Marina Jo and her sister; Lisa Altobello.

She was born Maria Grazia on July 23, 1936 to parents Gianfilippo De Cesare and Guiseppina Del Castello in the south of Italy where she lived with her three siblings, Flora, Lisa and Ippolito.  She married Joseph Cosentino in 1957, settled in New Jersey and raised a family.  They moved to Richmond, Virginia in 1980. Joseph later passed away in 2002.

Lella enjoyed working in her garden, cooking, sewing, entertaining and traveling.  She cherished her role as “Nonna” and devoted herself to the care of her granddaughter.  Along with spending time with her children, she also greatly valued her vast spiritual family.  Lella had a genuine zeal for the ministry and loved to share what she learned from the Bible with everyone she came in contact with.  Her generosity, hospitality and kindness touched many people’s lives.  We will feel her loss, but she will live in our hearts and memories.

In an effort to keep everyone safe, a virtual memorial service will be held for family and friends.
