She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Johnson; children, Joshawa Wheeler and Anthony Wheeler; siblings, Darleen Pane, William Wheeler, and Carlos Sanchez; and Mother and Father in law, George Wheeler and Mary Louise Wheeler.
Lilly worked as an environmental specialist for the Masonic Home of Virginia. She enjoyed ceramic painting, darts, gardening, crocheting, and needle point. Lilly was a caring and nurturing mother and wife of a mason. She was an outspoken and strong care taker. Lilly enjoyed her work caring for the residents at the Masonic Home with an ever-growing respect for the elderly. She lived with an eye to the past, loving stories of kings and dragons. Lilly was selfless and made sure the needs of all those around her came first, leading to great sacrifice in her life, but without regret. Her husband will forever miss his "jeans and sneakers girl".
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Bryant J. Wheeler; mother, Flora Johnson; children, Mark Johnson, Freddie Martin, Vernon Jernstadt, Adam and Morgan Wheeler, Taylor Sanders, Andrew Wheeler, Walter Jernstadt-Sprinston, and Samantha and David Long; grandchildren, Haven Sanders, Jaxon Sanders, Leland Sanders, Lorcan Sanders, Jade Long, Peyton Wheeler, Bailey Wheeler, and Josie Wheeler; siblings, Molly Garcia, Frank and Lisa Johnson, Garland and Diana Johnson, Linda and Ronnie Wilson, Rose Searcy, Sue and Adam McDonald, John and Michelle Eastmen, Linda Wheeler, and Jacquie Wheeler; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Virginia 23231. Please send any memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society in search of a cure for Small Cell Lung Cancer.
