

Waltrip, Linwood Lanier, 79, of Quinton, departed this life on January 14, 2016. He was a retired Master Electrician with the IBEW local 666. He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Barbara Mae Waltrip; sons, Linwood L. Waltrip II (Holly) and James W. Waltrip (Nicole); daughter, Beverly W. King (Paul); grandchildren, Erica Walters (Eric), Eathan King, Josephine and Mackenzie Waltrip; great-grandson, Colten Walters; sister, Flora W. Scott; niece, Ann S. Jamison(Mark); nephew, Robert D. Scott (Kate).
Linwood was born and raised in James City County. He moved to Richmond shortly after his marriage to Barbara where he began his lifelong career of being an electrician. After building his own house, he moved to New Kent where he resided for 29 years. He was a member of Kentwood Heights Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter and expert gardener and truly loved spending time at home. He enjoyed spending quality time with his wife, family, and friends but really cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. He had vast knowledge and exceptional problem solving skills that were appreciated by everyone that knew him. Words cannot express how much he will be missed.
The family will receive friends Monday, January 18, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4620 S. Laburnum Ave, Richmond, VA 23231. Services will also be held here on Tuesday, January 19, at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
