

M. Conway Adams, 88, of Henrico, passed peacefully on July 28, 2014 with family by his side. Conway was born and raised in Hampton, VA. He was the son of the late Frank and Mary Adams and preceded in death by his first wife, Jeanne F. Adams. Mr. Adams served in the Navy during WWII and in the Army during the Korean War. Conway was in the Army Reserve for 20 years before retiring as a Major. He served in various government agencies for over 30 years. He attended William & Mary College where he was part of ROTC and served as a Lieutenant. Conway retired from the Department of Justice, Immigration, and Naturalization Service. He was active in the Providence Forge Ruritan Club, where he served as Treasurer and he was on the Economic Development Authority of New Kent County. Mr. Adams was a founder and member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Doris Stowe Adams; sons, Stephen C. Adams (Nancy) and Philip G. Adams(Christine); grandchildren, Amie N. Spencer (Sean), Stephen C. Adams, Jr. (Gray); Bradford S. Adams (Ashley), Thomas A. Adams (Lauren); great-grandchildren, Natalie, Logan, Ian, Caiden, Graham; step-daughters, Diane Barker (Ralph), Patty Berne (Tim); step-grandchildren, Kelly, Brandy, Britney; sister-in-law, Helen Adams. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA 23231. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2631 Pocahontas Trail, Quinton, VA 23141. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park, Sandston, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton or The National Parkinson’s Foundation at PO Box 5018 Hagerstown, MD 21741.
