Margaret was born on October 19, 1943, in Farmville, VA. to the late William Howard Brown, Sr. and Olivia Grace Wonders Brown. She was a graduate of Prince Edward Academy, and during this time, she met her late husband, Randolph Lee Almond. They married on her birthday in 1962 and eventually moved to Richmond where they started their family. Along the way, they opened several businesses, including a hair salon, where Margaret met several lifelong friends. Years later, Margaret and Randy started a construction and grading company that they ran alongside one another. In her earlier years, she was active in the local chapter of the Women of the Moose where she enjoyed socializing and participating in charity events.
After retiring, Margaret loved crocheting, watching golf, and going to the beauty salon to get her hair done. Of all her pastimes, her favorite was chatting on the phone and checking in on her loved ones each and every day, and we will all miss this dearly. She found the greatest pleasure spending time with her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and doting about them to anyone who would listen.
She is survived by her two daughters, Kathryn Almond Boothe (James) of Mechanicsville, VA and Karen Michele Almond of Sandston, VA; her grandchildren, Ashley Boothe Lee (Micah), James Ryan Boothe, Jordan Tyler Boothe (Mary Kate), Olivia Grace Boothe, and Alexa Simone Williams; and her great-grandchildren, Camden Bryant Lee, Ashton James Lee, and Emersyn Grace Lee.
She is preceded in death by her oldest brother, William Howard Brown, Jr. and is survived by her siblings, Beverly Conley, Carol Taylor, Sarah Henderson (Robert), Henry Brown (Brenda), David Brown, and sister-in-law, Roberta Brown, along with numerous nephews, nieces, and close friends.
A gathering in her memory will be held on January 20th at Nelsen Funeral Home, which is located at 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231. Visitation will be at 1:00 pm followed by a service at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in Washington Memorial Park, 6217 Memorial Dr., Sandston, VA 23150.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support they have and are continuing to receive. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to a charity of your choice.
