

Margaret H. Ikenberry, 93, of Sandston, died November 15, 2013. She is the widow of Ernest Ikenberry who died in 1996 after 56 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by two of her brothers Robert Hopkins (Lazelle) and Lewis Hopkins (Rosie). She is survived by her daughter, Marie I. Parker; son, Walter E. Ikenberry (Betty), all of Sandston; four grandchildren, Amy Sandak (Roger), Julie Nimmo (Michael), Sam Ikenberry (Beth), and Jake Ikenberry (Colleen); six great-grandchildren, Catherine Burnett, Laura and Grace Sandak, Kelly Nimmo, Caleb Ikenberry, and Mallory Ikenberry. She is also survived by her brother, Ernest Hopkins and his wife Jutta and two sister-in-laws, Florence Covey and Jeanette Ikenberry. She had many exceptionally faithful nieces and nephews. She was active at New Bridge Baptist Church for over 60 years and leaves many cherished friends there as well as caring neighbors. She retired from VDOT at age 70 after 27 years of service. Prior to that she worked for Miller and Rhoads. She and her husband saw most of the world in their travels and all of the 50 states. She was known for her beautiful yard with blooming flowers and shrubs. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, November 18, 2013 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, Va 23231.
