She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl W. Sykes; her parents, Coral E. and Wiley E. Thomas; brothers, James Thomas, Robert Thomas (Rachel), Baxter Thomas (Carrie Mae), Hobart Thomas (Eunice); and sister Mabel Thomas; and they had an infant brother who preceded them all in death.
She was a loving mother, wife and grandmother and she enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by her sons, Anthony William Sykes and Michael Edward Sykes; a daughter, Dawn Sykes McNamara (Dan); a grandson, Thomas H. McNamara; and a large circle of extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until service time at 2:00 pm, Saturday October 28, 2023 at Varina Episcopal Church, 2385 Mill Road, Richmond, VA. 23231, with a reception to follow in the Parish Hall.
