Michael Wayne Hendrick

Born on February 25, 1953, Big Mike was a devoted husband, a loving family member, and a cherished friend to many. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved spending time outdoors. A hardworking and dedicated man, he owned and operated his own landscaping business for 20 years.

When he wasn’t working or outside, Big Mike could often be found in his garage, his man cave, surrounded by friends and family---mixing drinks, swapping stories, listening to music, and watching TV. He had a boisterous laugh, a happy and easygoing nature, and a gift for storytelling that made him the life of any gathering. His joy for life and fun-loving personality left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Stuart Hendrick Sr., and his brother, Alan Martin.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Wanda Hendrick; his mother, Pernell Martin; his brothers Stuart (Teri) and Ross (Sue); his sister Sharon (Mike); his sister-in-law Brinda Layne; and his brother-in-law Mike Best (Jeanette). He was a proud uncle to Amanda Renfroe (Phil), Brandon Reed (Ashley), Brian Martin, Austin Kelleher, Alex Kelleher (Mehgan), and Jessica Best, and a great-uncle to Wade Renfroe, Kimber Reed, Brielynn Reed, Emersyn Reed, and Torryn “Smoosh” Reed.

A viewing will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home in Richmond, VA on Sunday, August 3, from 4 to 7 pm, and a graveside service will take place on Monday, August 4 at 3 pm at Washington Memorial Park in Sandston, VA.

Big Mike will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
