

She was born and raised in Bath County, Va. She raised her family in Lanexa, Va. before moving to Florida where she lived for the past 16 years. Naomi was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Douglas “Junie”; her parents, Cecil and Villie Marie Simmons; two sisters; and one brother.
She is survived by her six children, Douglas “Buck”, Angela “Sissy”, Ronald “Bubby”, James “Skeeter”, Tammy Mallory (Rob), and Darrell; 20 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, as well as seven sisters, two brothers, and for the past five years her longtime friend and companion, Darrell “Morris” Decheubel.
Naomi was a loving mother, wife, sister, grandmother, and friend to all. She worked her entire career in the retail industry as a baker and deli manager. She loved Elvis, taking cruises, her stories, and most of all loved to bake and make people’s special occasions more special with her beautiful cakes.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave, Richmond, Va. 23231, where a Chapel service will be on held on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 2 p.m. Interment in Washington Memorial Park immediately following the service.
