PECK, Newton Edward, 76, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2015. He was born on November 5, 1938 at home on Stuart Land and Cattle Company on Clifton Farm, Virginia to the late Orville Hadford (Chiman) Peck and Nora Elma Peck. He was the oldest son of 10 children, consisting of Betty Louise Hulse (Larry Hulse), of Crawfordsville, Indiana, Mary Eunice Farmer (James Pleasant Farmer) of Sandston, Virginia, Marvin Hadford Peck, died September 2013 (Nancy Lucille Peck, died May, 2013) of Raven, Virginia, Sarah Euva Reynolds (Robert Reynolds, died May, 1985), of Swords Creek, Virginia, Dorothy Mae Reynolds (Kyle Reynolds) of Raven, Virginia, Peggy Juanita Frances (Clyde Leon Francis), of Richmond, Virginia, Loraine Janett Shanks (Wayne Ray Shanks) of Charles City, Virginia, Virginia Carlos William Peck (Bonnie Lou Peck), both killed in 2005, and Cynthia Lee Ancarrow (Kenneth Ancarrow) of Charles City, Virginia. Newton entered the Army and served overseas during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Upon his return he moved to the Richmond, Virginia area and worked a couple of jobs before becoming employed at Reynolds Metals, where he worked until he retired. In 1965 he asked Susan Jane Woodward from Mount Vernon, Ohio to marry him. They were married on August 25, 1967, and welcomed into their world five children: Clifford Orville Peck (Jill Peck), Andrew Gene Peck and Angela Jane Peck (died at birth 1969), Thomas Newton Peck, and Mary-Frances (Cissy) Atkins (Steven Lee Atkins). Newton also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Andrew Peck, Gracie Peck, Scott Davis, Alexander Davis, Brandon Davis, Nora Atkins, Erin Peck, Emily Peck and Jacob Atkins; one great-grandson, Grayson; and more than a few beloved nieces, nephews and godchildren. He accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at the age of 15 at a Friday night prayer meeting on Clifton Farm, which he attended with family. He still spoke of the preaching and remembered them fondly. He lived his life as a Man of God and it stayed with him that he was never baptized, so in July of 2015, with his family members around him, it was arranged for him to be baptized at the annual family reunion with his wife, Susan. There was not a dry eye in the river or on its banks. With them that day, multiple family members accepted Christ into their hearts and were baptized as well. Family and friends are welcome to pay respects Friday, October 16, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Highland Springs Church of the Nazarene, 6003 Hawks Ln., Richmond, Va., where funeral services will be held the following day at 12 noon. Interment will follow the service at 2:30 p.m. at Washington Memorial Park, 6217 Memorial Dr., Sandston, Va. Dinner will be served at the Highland Springs Church of the Nazarene following the graveside service. All are welcome. Online condolences may be offered at www.nelsencares.com.
