Gerhardt, Richard Jr.,84, of Sandston, was called to be with his lord on Tuesday, July 30, 2013. Richard was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, a Rambler member, an avid camper, and enjoyed playing the accordion. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Georgina Gerhardt; Daughter, Karen Barnes; Son, Robert Gerhardt Jr.; Step-children, David, John, Howard, and Jesse Huggins; Brother, Theo Gerhardt (Maria); Nephew, Richard Gerhardt (Hannolora); 2 grandchildren; and many other family members and friends. The family will receive friends on Sunday August 4, 2013 from 2 p.m. to 8p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. Richmond, VA 23231. A service will be held Monday August 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church, 813 W Nine Mile Rd. Highland Springs, VA 23075.Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park.
