Richard Edward "Dick" Godsey

Richard Edward "Dick" Godsey, 88, of Henrico, passed peacefully on Friday, October 6, 2017. While in the Navy, he served aboard the USS Leyte (CV32). He also served in the 192nd Tactical Air Command, U.S. Air National Guard, for over 30 years. Richard enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, bowling, racing RC cars, spending time at Grey's Point, hitting the gym, playing cards and pool, and keeping a meticulous yard. He was preceded in passing by his loving wife Norma, of 52 years; and a son, Roy Edward. Left to cherish Richard's memory are his sons, Raymond Edward (Vivian), Robert Edward (Maria); daughter, Linda Godsey Stanley(Ricky); grandchildren, Michelle Eibl (Joe), Raymond Edward Godsey II, Crystal England (Joe), Brandon Stanley; great-grandchildren, Justin Surrett, Gabriel Eibl, Hannah England, Chase England, Paige England; sister, Ann Small; and many nieces, nephews, family, friends and neighbors. Richard's family will receive friends on Thursday, October 12, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, Va. 23231, where a funeral service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 11220 Nuckols Road, Glen Allen Virginia 23059.
