Richard L. "Biddie" Marr, Jr., 69, of Charles City, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017. Richard was a master welder and fabricator. He served in the U.S. Army as a weapon specialist deployed to Germany for two years during the Vietnam War. Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Virginia Grubbs; father, Richard Leslie Marr Sr.; and wife of 20 years, Frances Marr. Left to cherish his memory are his loving partner, Jackie Gage; daughter, Dawn (Ruben) Gonzalez; Jackie's children, Kathy (Philip) Smith and David Gage; grandchildren, Christian, Jason, Jessica, Foster “Hippo,” Allison and Jack; and siblings, Adgie (Daisy) Bowery and James Marr. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 7, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 8, at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
