Robert W. Mathias, Sr., 80, of Charles City, went Home on Wednesday, December 20, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Virginia W. Mathias. Robert served in the U.S. Navy for six years and retired from the Air National Guard after 21 years of service. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Robert W. “Billy” Mathias, Jr. (Kathy) and Barbara “Jeannie” Slater (Kevin); four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and special friends, Roger and Marilyn Laverne. A funeral service will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231 on Wednesday, December 27, at 12 noon with a visitation one hour prior.
