BANTON, Roger, beloved husband, Dad and Grandpa, passed away on April 26, 2018, at his home in Richmond, Va. after a brave battle with cancer. Born in Nelson County to David and Thelma Peters Banton, he is survived by his loving wife of 52 and one-half years, Margaret; a son, Keith (Ann Lynn); daughter, Rhonda Finley (Chris); and grandchildren, Mal, Cory and Connor Banton; sisters, Lucy Worley and Mary Casey; brothers, John and George “Pee Wee” Banton; and a very special sister-in-law, Jane Carter; and many nieces and nephews. Roger loved sports and coached for many years in youth football and baseball. The joy of his life was watching the grandkids playing sports, going to UVA football games and deer hunting. He was employed for 32 years with VEPCO/ Dominion Power and seven years with Henrico County. He was a member of Richmond East Moose since 1987. Visitation for family and friends will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231.
