Rose Bernice Mathis, 84, of Henrico, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017. She was a member of Newbridge Baptist Church for more than 50 years. Left to cherish her memory are her long-time companion, James Bell; children, Roger Mathis and Violet Ferrell; grandchildren, Amanda, Robert and James; and six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231, where a funeral service will take place on Friday, June 9, at 12 noon. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park.
