She was born in Highland County, VA, September 28, 1932, to the late John and Hazel Woods Gutshall. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Walton (Wally) T. Peters, Jr., and son, Norman Peters; three brothers, Hunter, Hartzel, and Harlan Gutshall; and a sister, Darlie King.
She is survived by a daughter, Sherri Burke of Cocoa Beach, FL; two sisters, Arlene Peters of Mechanicsville, VA, and Herthel Chestnut of Verona, VA; a daughter-in-law, Denise Peters of Jarvisburg, NC; two grandchildren, Michael Peters and Chrissy Peters Gowitzka; a great-granddaughter; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She retired from the J. B. Denny Company, and was a member of Francis Asbury United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach.
A service will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, Virginia, 23231.
