July 31, 1956 – June 8, 2025
Sheila Diane Pendergraph, 68, of Heathsville, Virginia, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Richmond, Virginia, on July 31, 1956, she was the first born daughter of Janie and Raymond Allen raised in Highland Springs, Virginia and on the beloved “Rivah” in the Northern Neck. Sheila was a true Southern soul with a deep love for nature, family, and her faith. Married on August 16, 1985, she was the cherished wife of Timothy C. Pendergraph, her devoted husband of almost 40 years.
After marriage, the family moved to Stafford, Virginia where they raised their two daughters. Sheila was a proud and loving mother to Diane Pittman and Ashley Canody (James), and a treasured Nannie to six grandchildren—Logan, Adam (Melissa), Britney (Christian), Michael, Hayden, and Knox—and eight great-grandchildren: Piper, River, Gracelynn, Lillian, Audrey, Leon, Vincent, and Carson. She also leaves behind her siblings: Sharon Cooke, Michael Allen, Richard Allen, Angela Allen, and Christopher Allen, along with many adored nieces and nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends who brought joy to her life.
To know Sheila was to be loved by her. Whether you were family by blood or by bond, she had a way of making everyone feel welcomed and cared for. She was a neighborhood Mom to many, had a heart after God, and a woman of long lasting friendships.
Sheila found peace in her many beautiful flowers, joy in watching hummingbirds, and pride in her beautiful yard. Her hands were rarely still—those lucky enough to receive one of her handmade crochet creations knew just how much love she stitched into each piece.
Sheila and Tim retired to her beloved NNK in a beautiful home where she loved to watch the many woodland animals that came on the property.
She loved Jesus, her family, and her “stories”—The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful were part of her daily ritual. Her handwritten notes always displayed her beautiful penmanship. Her humor and mispronounced words will always fill us with laughter.
Sheila now rejoices in heaven with her beloved parents, Janie and Raymond Allen.
One of the last things she said was “Remember Me” and we will spend the rest of our lives doing so.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date, and all who knew and loved Sheila are welcomed.
