She was a member of Pioneer Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Verner Emerson; mother, Mildred Emerson; and siblings, Billy Emerson, Evelyn Ferrell, Barbara Agee and Kerry Emerson.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas King; daughter, Karen Saffy; son-in-law, Mark Saffy; grandchildren, Allison Taylor, Ryan Saffy and Patrick Saffy; and brother, Jerry Emerson.
The family will receive friends Thursday, October 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231.
A graveside service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Washington Memorial Park.
