Gardner, Vernon Pierce Sr., 90, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2015. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Shirley H. Gardner. He is survived by his three children, Linda (Charles) Fore, Barbara (Roland) Knight and Vernon (Debbie) Gardner Jr.; step-son, Odie (Sandi) Coffey; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; two brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 8, from 4-8pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. Richmond VA 23231. Services will be held on Friday, October 9, at 2pm with interment following at Washington Memorial Park.
