Vivian "Courtney" Purvis, Jr.

Vivian “Courtney” Purvis, Jr., 94, of Sandston, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Glascock Purvis and his mother, Thelma A. Purvis. Courtney retired from the Air National Guard and served honorably in both the United States Army and Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion Post #242. Courtney enjoyed the outdoors and camping as well as working with his hands and tinkering with a variety of projects. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Michele P. Lemons (Delbert), John C. Purvis (Gay), and Brian L. Purvis (Laura); six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 12, 2022 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231 where a Funeral Service will immediately follow at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
