Born on July 27, 1946 to James and Florence Phelps, Bill grew up with his seven brothers and sisters in a house of music, laughter, and love.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marilyn Jean; sons, William Lewis, Jr. (Clara), Charles Grey, and Joseph Conway (Ginger); nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; beloved siblings, brother, Henry (Patricia) and sister, Mozelle (Cecil).
He retired from Nabisco/Kraft after 30 years as a faithful employee and supervisor of the Oreo Line. Bill loved music, spending time with his extended family, and fishing – the only sport he loved. Bill embodied the Spirit with his strength, courage, and fortitude during his 15-year battle with cancer. He will be missed, but we rejoice in his healing.
Bill’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Break–Out Ministries International, 112 England St., Ashland, VA 23005 with visitation one hour prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
A reception will follow the service at the church.
