He was a retired self-employed brick mason and was a member of Varina Masonic Lodge 272.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lacy and Anna Madison; and by two brothers, Carl and Robert Earl Madison.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joyce H. Madison; children, William Madison (Teresa), Frances Higgins (Jimmy), Cynthia Cope (Tim), Michele Ford and Robin Bowling (Fred); 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; brother, John Madison (Brenda); sister, Irene Christian; numerous nieces and nephews; and his devoted pet, Pugsy.
The family will receive friends Thursday, August 6, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, Virginia 23231, where a Masonic and memorial service will immediately follow at 12 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
