He is survived by his brother, Frankie (Jeanie) and his sister, Alice (Charles); his beloved nieces and nephew, Evie (Scott), Christi (Andy), Robin (Keith), Damon, Tracey (Andy); and his extended family Wayne, Mark, Susie, and Dennis. He was a GREAT Uncle to Maddie, Dylan, Sophie, Noah, Nicholas, Ashby and Josh.
Woody was a graduate of the Class of 1965 from Forest Hill High School in West Palm Beach, FL and an honorary graduate of Varina High School in Henrico, VA. Woody proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He spent his career as a Carpenter with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local 130 in Florida and Local 205(388) in Virginia. Woody was a member of the Sandston Moose Fraternity, a Life Member of the VFW Post 8529 and Fort Lee Baptist Church.
Woody enjoyed gardening, canning tomatoes and other home-grown veggies, fishing with a good buddy and enjoying a beer or two with friends at Sportsman’s or Bubbas. He could fry up a mean pork chop and “relished” a good hot sauce. Though the miles separated them, Woody enjoyed a daily call from his big brother even if it was just to give him a hard time.
A Celebration of Life is being held at the Sportsman’s Restaurant and Lounge on Sunday, July 13 from 2:00pm – 6:00pm.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at the Amelia Veterans Cemetery. Details will be shared once arrangements are finalized.
Memorial gifts can be made to:
