At the remarkable age of 92, we said goodbye to our number one… our hero. With so much love, gratitude, and great joy for a life so beautifully lived, we share that Rudy John Bonifacio passed peacefully, surrounded by his family.
Rudy was so many things to so many people—a devoted husband to Sue for 57 wonderful years, a proud dad to his son John (Debbie, Justin & Rudy) and daughter Tina, and a loving grandfather, brother, uncle, and loyal friend. He is survived by his sisters Rita Rowell and Virginia Bremner, along with grandsons, nieces, and nephews who will carry his stories and spirit forward.
Born in Toronto, Rudy attended Bruce Public School, Danforth Tech, and Western University before stepping into the family business, Modern Statuary. In 1978, he moved to Fort Erie and began working alongside his father at Crystal Beach Amusement Park. What started in the concession stands in the late ’70s became something much bigger—he went on to become Superintendent and eventually a partner, helping shape a place that holds cherished memories for so many.
He had a colourful sense of humor, a steady, grounding presence, and his own kind of wisdom. A favorite will always be: “take what you need and leave enough for the next guy.”
Rudy loved to travel—exploring the world with Sue, family, and friends. From Australia to Europe, Florida to Vegas, the Caribbean and beyond, he saw so much of the world, though Mexico always held a special place in his heart. He always had stories to tell, always making those around him laugh.
We carry with us a lifetime of cherished memories, very few regrets, and an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the time we shared. He wasn’t flashy—just solid, kind, and always there. The kind of person you could count on.
Family and friends are invited to visitation on Wednesday May 6th from 11 to 2 pm, and 6 to 8 pm at Williams Funeral Home in Ridgeway, Ontario. A funeral service will be held in his honour on Thursday May 7th at 10 am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the SPCA of Fort Erie in his memory.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered, always.
