We celebrate the life of our beloved Amy Janinne Ponitz, who passed away December 19, 2025. Born on June 13, 1974, she brought warmth, laughter, and her keen sense of curiosity and wonder into our lives. After graduating from Rochester Adams High School in 1993, she went on to attend Ferris State University and later became a certified medical assistant, working as a CMA and caretaker. Amy poured her heart into religion, developing an unshakable faith in God. Through Bible study and worship, she contributed to and connected with her congregation and community deeply. Amy was a doting Aunt, always expressing so much pride in her nieces and nephew. In her youth, she attended Black River Horse Camp for many summers, developing a deep bond with and love for horses. Using her tenacity and perseverance, she even learned vaulting and bareback riding. Her adventurous spirit shone through early in life on family trips as she showed a love for hiking, skiing, tubing, museums, and exploring new places. Among her most fond memories was studying abroad in Toledo, Spain, continuing to correspond with her host family for decades after her trip. Amy had a thirst for knowledge and was an avid reader throughout her life. In recent years, her artistic sensibilities shone through in her jewelry-making, sewing, and knitting projects that she often gifted to others. Amy is survived by John and Nancy Ponitz (parents), Matt and Michelle Ponitz (brother and sister-in-law), Julie and Jordan Braciszewski (sister and brother-in-law), as well as Marin, Tyler, Annabelle and Evelyn (Nieces and Nephew). Amy’s legacy is one of steadfast faith and love for her family.
