Arnold F. Viohl, of Auburn Hills, MI, passed away on December 10th, 2021 at the age of 93. He was born in Detroit, MI on July 10, 1928 to Gustav and Frieda Viohl. Arnold went to Denby High School before going on to attend Wayne State University. He married his beloved wife Kate (nee Schermer) Viohl on October 6th, 1956. Arnold worked as an Automotive Designer for General Motors for many years before becoming a teacher at Macomb Community College. He was a faithful Lutheran and a proud member of the St. Johns Lutheran Church in Rochester, MI. Arnold sang in the church’s men’s choir and participated in the Stephen Ministry. He was a lover of music and enjoyed playing the piano. When he had some free time, Arnold would go golfing, play tennis, play the piano, or settle down with a good book. After retirement, he loved to travel and spend time at the cottage in Northern Michigan. His family all knew that no matter how busy he was, he would always put his family first. He honorably served his country in the Korean War from January 1951 to November 1952.
He is survived by his wife Kate Viohl; son Douglas (Kathy) Viohl; daughter Victoria Viohl Love; grandchildren Dana, Drew, Luke, Travis, and Katie; and great-grandchildren Bailey, Jake, Mason, and Lilly.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 17th, from 2PM to 4 PM and then later in the day from 6 PM to 8 PM at Pixley Funeral Home in Rochester. A funeral service will be held at St. Johns Lutheran Church on Saturday, December 18th, at 11 AM.
Burial will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
