Art was born the son of Herbert and Margaret (Wild) Madson on November 27, 1934, in Milford, Michigan. He graduated from Walled Lake High School, class of 1952. Art married Sherron Wilson on August 14, 1954, in Pontiac, Michigan. Art and Sharron raised their family in Rochester and Lake Orion. Art had a career with Bill Fox Chevrolet starting in 1960, retiring as the parts manager in 2000. Art and his family were members of Abiding Presence Lutheran Church.
Art deeply loved his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He enjoyed attending many events for all of them. Art was the original MacGyver. He could fix anything and could often be found tinkering in the garage and yard. Art found joy driving his tractor and pulling his red wagon around the yard.
Art is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Sherron Madson; children Sherri Gage, A Leonard Madson (Joan), Debra Potrykus (Jim), Sheila Madson (Stefani), and Shelly Reimer (Scott); brother-in-law Charles Tingley; sisters-in-law Sheila Roberts and Gigi Wilson; Grandchildren Jessica Gage, Travis Gage, Nina Keomouangchanh, Jonathan Madson, Nicholas Madson, Brandan Madson, Taylor Watson, Ryan Potrykus, Chas Reimer & Jana Hendrickson; Nineteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Art was predeceased by his parents; children Mark Madson and Janet Madson; sister Carolyn Tingley; brothers-in-law Leonard Wilson and Butch Roberts.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday August 8, 2025, from 10:00am until the time of the memorial service at 11:30am at Pixley Funeral Home, located at 322 West University Drive in downtown Rochester, Michigan, with a luncheon to follow. Interment will be at Mt. Avon Cemetery.
