Barb was born the daughter of Robert and Gladys (Maxwell) Schinke on August 1, 1931, in Pontiac, Michigan. She graduated from Rochester Hills High School, class of 1949. Barb married Clyde Schinke at First Baptist Church in Rochester, and they raised their family in Rochester Hills. Barb served as the bookkeeper for Clyde Schinke Builders. She was a member of Five Points Church and Marimont Community Church over the years. Barb and Clyde spent many summers in Bibleville, Texas helping build churches for American and Mexican families.
Barb’s faith in God and love for her family was central to her life. Barb and Clyde enjoyed years of travel and camping together. Barb enjoyed teaching Sunday School for 30 years at Five Points Church.
Barb is survived by her children Douglass (Kathy) Schinke, Diane (Ron) Southard, Dawn (Jerry) Olshove, and David (Deborah) Schinke; grandchildren Joe (Bethany) Southard, Meredith (Andre) Sanislo, Shelby (Ryan) Sanislo, Derrick (Abby) Southard, Marie (Jon) French, Robert (Lynette) Schinke, Michelle Schinke, David Schinke, Valerie (Ryan) Marshall, Alex (Kelly) Schinke, Chelsea (Scott Gibson) Olshove, Adam (Laura Hernandez) Olshove, and Aaron Olshove; great- grandchildren Jacob Smarsch, Christopher Schinke, Skyler Schinke, Clyde Schinke, Holland Schinke, Lucas Marshall, Nathan Marshall, Ava Schinke, Jeremiah Schinke, Caleb Schinke, Tessa Schinke, Celeste Sanislo, Mitchell Sanislo, Garrett Sanislo, Levi Southard, Norah Southard, Bryce Southard, Isaac French, Eleazar French, Asher French, and George Olshove; and many nieces and nephews.
Barb was predeceased by her husband Clyde Schinke; her parents;
and siblings Audrey Savory, Robert, Larry, and Mickey Thorne.
A funeral service for Barbara will be held on Tuesday January 6, 2026 at 11am (10:30am instate) at Pixley Funeral Home, located at 322 West University Drive in downtown Rochester, Michigan. Burial will be private at Mt. Avon. A luncheon in Barb's honor will follow at Marimont Community Church in Waterford.
