Carl was born the son of Walter and Sallie (Szpond) Kudla in Detroit, Michigan on May 21, 1942. He graduated from Pershing High School in Detroit, class of 1959. Carl married Jean Glomski on August 3, 1963, at St. Cunegunda Catholic Church in Detroit and they raised their family in Utica. Carl had a career as a computer programmer at Kmart Headquarters in Troy. He had a passion for sports, especially the Detroit Tigers, and served as an umpire for baseball, softball, basketball, and volleyball for over 30 years. Carl was involved with the Briggs stadium league. He was a member of St. Mary of the Hills Catholic Church.
Carl found the love of his life in his wife Jean. He was a people person, enjoying parties and card games, always inviting others into conversation. He was a promoter, networker, and was involved with anything that had to do with sports. Carl was a deeply beloved father, uncle, cousin, brother, and friend.
Carl is survived by his wife Jean Kudla (Glomski) for 62 cherished years. Loving father of Kathy (Ron) Glodich, Susan (John) Bredeken, Pamela Linn, and Jim (Angela DiBartolomeo) Kudla. Proud grandfather of Gabrielle Romero, Gunnar Glodich, Anna Bredeken, Wes Linn, Haley Linn, Alexa DiBartolomeo, Caitlin DiBartolomeo, and Brendan DiBartolomeo and great-grandfather of Luca and Liam Romero and Kinsley Glodich. Carl was preceded to heaven by his sister, brother, mother, father, aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be held on Sunday November 10, 2024 from 2 pm until the time of the funeral service at 4pm at Pixley Funeral Home, located at 322 W. University Drive in downtown Rochester, Michigan. We invite you all to share pictures or memories. It was his wish that we laugh and reminisce, and smile together during this time.
Interment will be private at a later date.
