Beloved mother of Christopher (Melanie) Whitney, Jean (Ronnie) Summers, Mary (Mike) Holowatyj, and Cheri (Charles) Simpson; dear grandmother of Chey, Paige, Sawyer, Maggie, Kaitlyn, Allison, Jacob, Mason, and Emily; caring sister of Patrick (Lori) Blohm and Mark Blohm. Cheryl was predeceased by her parents George and Jean (Fisher) Burns
Cheryl was born in Grosse Pointe, Michigan on April 30, 1946. She graduated from Grosse Point High School and earned her bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Michigan. She married James Whitney on December 23rd in 1978 and they raised their family in Rochester Hills.
Cheryl attended St. John Lutheran Church and was a member of Phi Gamma Gamma Sorority and Alumni group at the University of Michigan.
Cheryl loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an accomplished pianist and loved to accompany her vocalist daughter.
Cheryl’s family will receive all for a visitation on Friday October 5th, 2018 from 4 – 8 pm. On Saturday, October 6th at 10 am there will be another visitation until the time of funeral service at 11am at Pixley Funeral Home, located at 322 W. University drive in downtown Rochester, Michigan.
