DAVID “Big Dave” ATWELL, age 40, of Pontiac, died Sunday, September 13, 2020. David was born on June 13, 1980 in West Palm Beach, Florida. He is survived by his children David Kaiden Atwell and Addison Grace Atwell; mother Janine Russini; brothers Eric Atwell and Vincent (Elizabeth) Russini and Sister Charity Russini. Also survived by ex-wife Courtney, 5 nieces & nephews, several aunts & uncles and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his father Andrew Russini, Sr.
Big Dave graduated from Pontiac Northern High School in 1998. While at Pontiac Northern he played on the varsity football team, wrestling team, and was on the first Pontiac Northern Robotics Team. Following high school, he attended Hyles-Anderson College. He worked security for many years at Bongos Restaurant, and most recently worked with Big Bear Tree Company.
Big Dave was known for being a Big Guy with a Big Smile and a Big Heart. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 19, 2020, 10 a.m. at Heritage Baptist Church, 2024 Pontiac Road, Auburn Hills. Pastor John T. Fields officiating. Interment Perry Mt. Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, September 18, 2020 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Heritage Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the church.
