David John Steigerwald, 68, died August 26, 2026. He was a resident of Rochester Hills, Michigan. Born September 2, 1957, in Detroit, MI, David’s life reflected a steady devotion to craft, creativity, and the people he loved.
David graduated from Andover High School, where he was a proud member of the Boy Scouts and played both soccer and hockey. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from the University of Cincinnati, building a foundation for a life shaped by careful skill and an artist’s eye.
A self-employed graphic designer, David brought a creative mind to his work and to the way he approached the world, always drawing and finding better ways to express an idea. That same inventive spirit extended beyond design, including the development of Zip-It steak sauce, a project that reflected his love of cooking.
Away from work, David loved playing golf, cooking delicious food, and was an avid sports fan. His creativity also showed itself in the kitchen, where he took pride in cooking for others. He was especially known for his variety of Christmas cookies, which became a memorable part of the holiday season for those who loved them.
David also found deep meaning in spending time with family. Janet, the mother of his son Bradley, remained an important and caring part of David’s life, and their connection continued throughout the years.
David is survived by his son, Bradley (Kacie) Steigerwald; brothers, Tom (Kori) Steigerwald and Norman (Elisa) Steigerwald; and sister, Trudy Steigerwald. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Elfriede Steigerwald.
