Dewey Don Sanford, of Royal Oak, Michigan, passed away on January 8, 2021 at the age of 85. Dewey, or Don as he was more commonly known, was born in Royal Oak, Michigan on July 6, 1935 to Mary and Emmett Sanford. He attended Troy High School before going on to honorably serve his country in the Navy. He was the proud owner of D & S Painting Company for many years before he retired, after which he went to work for Guardian Angels school in maintenance. Don was a member of the Moose Lodge which he enjoyed. His true passion was baseball and he loved to watch the Tigers play. When his children were younger he would coach the youth baseball in Troy, Michigan.
Don is survived by his wife Katharina Sanford of Royal Oak, MI; sons Rod (Margie) Sanford of Lansing, MI and Craig (Janice) Sanford of Cass City, MI; stepdaughter Gayle Parent of Clawson, MI; grandchildren Chloe Sanford, Alexander Parent, Brandon (Rachel) Parent, Shirley Woods, and Elizabeth Woods; and great-grandchild Connor Parent.
A private funeral service will take place at a later date.
