Diane Wolford Sheppard, age 80, of Rochester Hills, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. Diane was born in Austin, Texas on June 20, 1945. She was a woman of great intellectual strength. She earned her Bachelor's degree from the University Of Windsor and applied her skills as a Legal Assistant and Researcher at a law firm.
Diane knew the importance of preserving and studying the past. She was an active member in the French Canadian Heritage Society Of Michigan, holding the position of web master for the group. Diane also wrote and co-wrote a number of books about the early history of Detroit from the settler's perspective. It can be no surprise that she was also her family's genealogist. Even her hobbies had a historical flair. She enjoyed making crewelwork and needle point embroidery as well as stunning stained glass windows. Not only has her family lost a wonderful sister and friend, but the world has lost a talented historian.
Diane is survived by her sister Maureen Blackman (Jeffrey), brother James Wolford (Maureen), brother Joseph Wolford (Cathy) and sister Therese Jamison (David); sister-in-law Kathy Carey (Bob); her numerous nieces and nephews; many close friends from the French Canadian Heritage Society; and many step brothers and step sisters.
Diane was preceded in death by her husband Robert Neil Sheppard; parents Eugene and Mary Jane Wolford; brothers Michael Wolford (Joanne) and John Wolford (The Late Sandy); step father Jack Hughes; and step brother John Hughes.
